Join Balanced Rock for a stroll to the top of Sentinel Dome for a gentle yoga practice and meditation amidst breathtaking sunset views of Yosemite Valley. All levels are welcome, this is a beginner-friendly hike with slight elevation gain to reach the top of the dome.

Once at the top of the dome, we will engage in a short yoga and meditation practice guided by our Balanced Rock instructor. There will be time for pictures, journaling or personal reflection while gazing out over the Valley at sunset. All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver upon registration.

Program Price & Tuition Assistance

$75/person

Tuition Assistance is available for all Balanced Rock programs and we never turn anyone away due to lack of funds. Please contact us for more information.

Program Price Includes

Guided hiking and yoga instruction by local, knowledgable guides, day use access on the day of the hike to specified Yosemite locations (in accordance with Balanced Rock’s Special Use Permit)

Program Price Does Not Include

Entrance fee into Yosemite National Park, transportation to and from the trailhead, personal food or supplies

Timeline

5:00pm Meet at the Sentinel Dome parking lot/trailhead as a group for brief introductions and supplies check before starting our stroll

*The times for reaching the top of the dome are flexible and in keeping with the needs and physical limitations of the group. These times may fluctuate due to the exact times of sundown.

8:00pm Return to trailhead parking lot and say goodbyes

*This timeline is tentative and subject to change as sundown times shift.

What to Bring

Backpack or daypack with the following items:

  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks and food (food will not be provided by Balanced Rock so plan accordingly)
  • Face covering (mask or bandana) — required
  • Headlamp or flashlight (there may be the chance of hiking back in near darkness)
  • Proper clothing and layers (while the summer days are hot, the temperature drops quickly when the sun goes down at high altitude. We recommend bringing layers and a mid-level jacket)
  • Proper footwear (hiking boots, approach shoes, tennis shoes are recommended. Sandals are not recommended)
  • Yoga mat or blanket (optional, but recommended)
  • Camera for photos (optional)
  • Journal and pen/pencil (optional)
  • Hiking poles (optional)

The instructor will have a first aid kit and communications to use if needed.
